Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War has been a captivating return for the Bleach series as fans eagerly wait for more. Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War cour 2 ended on quite a cliffhanger as Squad Zero's battle with Yhwach was nearing the end and then the episode cut to black with five minutes remaining. A post-credit scene appears, which isn't unusual for Bleach but seems to have been done at the wrong time. Now, as fans eagerly await cour 3, they are left wondering with many questions about what will happen next and what the vision for waht the thrid cour will look like.

Five months ago, Viz Media released a new trailer for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War on YouTube that showcased what's to come for cour 3, including a character set to return for the first time in the Thousand-Year Blood War arc. This character is fan favorite Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez, who many anime-only fans assumed died after his fight with Ichigo in Hueco Mundo.

He had a small appearance in cour 2, but his screen time was extremely short, as fans could only assume it was him due to seeing a small visual of his abdomen.

How Grimmjow Survived After His Final Battle With Ichigo

He Was Heavily Wounded, So How Did He Recover During The Following Battles

The last time Grimmjow appeared in Bleach was during his battle with Ichigo in Hueco Mundo after refusing to admit defeat against Ichigo. He proclaimed that anyone who looked down on him would be crushed, as he stood above Ichigo ready to fire his strongest attack, known as the Desgarrón. Ichigo was able to destroy Desgarrón and impale Grimmjow, successfully defeating him. Ichigo gently laid down Grimmjow's body on the floor. Later, he was nearly killed by fellow Espada Nnoitra, and his body was left lying on the floor as fans saw him for the last time on screen.

This seemed like the last time Grimmjow would appear in the series and no one knows how Grimmjow survived. The revolving theory is that during the battle that Ichigo had with Nnoitra and Ulquiorra, Grimmjow managed to restore some of his strength and hid to heal himself. He likely healed himself by absorbing Reishi in Hueco Mundo and by eating other Hollows. This allowed him to survive the injuries he sustained and even gain some strength by continuously feeding off of low-rank hollows. In cour 2, Kisuke was seen trying to hide Grimmjow from Ichigo, which made fans curious about the nature of their relationship.

Grimmjow Is Set To Play A Major Role

Grimmjow's Abilities Will Be A Major Help Against Yhwach

Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach, wouldn't bring back Grimmjow if he didn't have big plans for him in the future. He isn't exactly an ally to Ichigo and the Soul Society, but he sees Yhwach as a common enemy, along with him wanting something in return. He has proven himself to have incredible durability as he took a Bankai-enhanced Getsuga Tenshō from Ichigo and only sustained a scar on his chest.

Grimmjow's mastery of hand-to-hand combat, enhanced speed and Resurrección are just a few abilities that will be showcased in cour 3. There's a good reason to believe that fans might get a chance to see some new abilities that haven't been seen before. Despite the history between Ichigo and Grimmjow, they share a common goal. The Quincy Invasion of Hueco Mundo affects Grimmjow since he wants to protect his home, and it gives him the chance to settle the score with Ichigo. Throughout the series, he has always been driven by a desire for power, as he despises being looked down on, and he wants to prove that he's strong.

The Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Cour 3 will also give fans a look into how Grimmjow has changed over time and how much his character has evolved. His character arc remains somewhat unresolved. There's still room for further exploration of his redemption and the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc could provide the perfect backdrop for Grimmjow to undergo further growth as a character, potentially leading to seeing him as a protector of Hueco Mundo.

Many Grimmjow fans would like to see growth in his abilities and one way this could happen is if he learned Segunda Etapa or a second Resurrección form. Showing this level of power would be a great moment for all Bleach fans and this could open up the idea that the other remaining Espada could do the same. His character design, rash confidence, and high-speed combat are missed in the series and will be entertaining to see again.

Many fans will be excited to see the interaction between Grimmjow and Ichigo again, since it will be a tense moment considering where they left off the last time they were seen together. At the same time, it will be a heartwrenching moment to see the two share the spotlight once again. A change in his character towards the end of the Thousand-Year Blood War and seeing one last fight with Ichigo would be nostalgic for many Bleach fans.
